Yes

Yes and much more. Though if you're only interested in kills / deaths, you'll do really poorly overall. We're working hard to strongly encourage team play, which will get directly reflected in stats tracking and ranks.

So much for being uber-vague... :)

You'll be able to see how many kills / deaths you have. However you'll be ranked exclusively based on generalized points, which are derived from objectives, kills, deaths, and other ummm things. I can't get into further details, as it's both still under development and we don't want to let the cat out of the bag just yet (those pesky cats...).

However, we're very interested in making it such that stat whoring people are at least inadvertently forced to be good teammates in spite of themselves.

Gasp... The fastest way to climb the ranks will be to... help your team and your teammates. Now let the rampant speculation really begin. :D

good stuff, BF2 and Red ORchestra encourage team play through their points/ranks systems, so this sounds like a good move

Yeah great, like the BF2 ranking system?
Cant host a ranking server for BF2. You need to hire an official ranking server. That sucks bigtime imo!

No problem with ranking, but let us host the (ranking) game

I don't know the specifics of the BF2 ranking system, so I can't say.

We'd like to make it such that anyone can run a ranking server, but it's too early to say for sure.

Hope that i can host a server. EA didnt trust the community with the BF2 ranked servers... so you have to rent a server from an official EA trusted partner.. and pay a nice price :? Many unranked servers stay empty...

Bought new hardware (second server with very fast i-net connection at an University). Now im only running a cod2 game on that server... Just a waste of a nice powerfull machine :(

I have plenty of power left to run 1 or more Alliance-games

The only thing I did like about ea's bf2 was the ranking system. I liked the bf hq section. Where you could see all your stats with things like weapons used. Time you used it. The amount of kills with it. Etc. I would like to see something like that in alliance.

As far as the kills/deaths go, I've wanted a game to do the following for ages but none have so far...

The scoreboard should also contain your score with deaths subtracted from kills.

For example, someone ends up with 30 kills 28 deaths = 2 and is on top because he has the most kills

However, 2nd place has 28 kills and 10 deaths = 18 and therefore should be ranked higher than the other player.

Kills....-....Deaths....=....Infantry Total....+....Objective....=.... Round Total

That would be awesome and would encourage people to not die as much and would also definately encourage teamwork...much like BF2 does where you get teamwork(objective) points for capturing flags etc.

Besides, the players that are on top of scoreboards with 10 more deaths than kills and brag will be gone heh :)

Cheers.

I have seen the kills minus deaths before in a game but I think it was console and not pc. I like the concept but it would cause many problems. For starts, no one would want to die. Therefore everybody and there brothers would just be SNIPERS. Which would make the game very boring. And there are a lot of sniper games out there. Second, if it went like that, there would be a lot of complaining. I personally like that but all the 13 year olds out there that play it just to get a lot of kills would complain. And personally, I dont want to hear the annoying F**** scream about it. Sorry for my french. A person that is 25-15 should not be ranked lower then a person that is 10-0. It would just teach people to camping instead of running around and doing objectives. Period.

An answer may be just to count ONLY OBJECTIVES and not to count kills... still, who will want a such system...

please dont allow people to make MASSIVE sigs showing every single dumb stat that they have achieved. they are so anoying.

i like the idea of stats but try to keep the game away from people just stat whoreing and not playing the game properly. (if that made sense)

Yeah I agree. I have played BF2 on some servers where people were just stat "whoring" and it totally ruins the gameplay.

Like where some guys on your team and theres go out and try to earn badges like knife and pistol. Thats like 4 or 5 useless players. and you end up losing because of it. It makes me very upset.

I'm hoping there will be the option for 1 life only gameplay.
So kills - deaths score is not so relavent for me.

I think BF2 is a bugbear among ranking systems. In particular the unlocking of weapons. I didn't like that I couldn't use all the weapons without playing on a Special (costs extra to hire) EA server for many hours first. That was really really poor.

Had I had access to all the guns from the beginning I would have spent longer playing the games and replayed it all again with each new one to learn the different tactics they engender. As it was I just put the game down, knowing there was more I would never see because EA wanted to earn more money out of me.

Very poor.
