Hey guys, I'm sure you've heard of the hit show Deadliest Warrior on Spike TV. Basically, a warrior culture/history nerd's wet dream: match up two different warriors throughout history in combat using a computer simulator, scientific measurements, and historical facts/items.

Image

Experts from each side represent their warriors while the show is hosted by three guys: a doctor who measures the trauma of the weapons used, an bio-mechanical engineer who records the data of each weapon/armor used, and a (as of this season) former Navy SEAL who offers a warrior's perspective on the show.

Overall, I'd say the show is loads of fun to watch. While often controversial, we need to remember the main focus of the show is to entertain.

The first match up of Season 3 is George Washington vs. Napoleon Bonaparte. Pretty insane match up of two legendary generals who were excellent leaders of their time. Washington fought off the most powerful empire of that time with a band of farmers with pitchforks (kidding, but you get the point) while Napoleon conquered a vast majority of Europe.

If anyone needs a recap, here's the full episode: http://www.spike.com/articles/xsng9y/de ... -bonaparte

The match up ends in Washington's victory, in a NEARLY tied result. How the simulator works is that it simulates a series of battles (usually a thousand, but for this episode it was out of 5,000), and whoever wins the most is the victor. Washington ends up winning 2,530 battles while Napoleon wins 2,470. All I have to say is: Thank God we didn't lose to the French! (jk)

What I want to know is your thoughts on this match up! Was the match full of shit? Should Napoleon have won? Let us all know! I'll be posting these every week when each episode comes out (Wednesday) for fun. I think we can get some pretty interesting debates here assuming we have enough viewers. Thanks!

Napoleon was the better dressed man and had a dessert named after him. Neither of those variables are factored into Slitherin Studios' simulator. I therefore call flawed results on the whole thing and disregard it as any useful body of knowledge whatsoever :)

haha good point! But you forget, Washington was considered unusually good looking for his time, Napoleon would simply sit there in awe! In all seriousness, I thought Frenchie here was going to win because of his vast experience and resources, but i guess he made one too many mistakes

Damn I need to get back into this show!
I used to watch it before with my friends before we got tired of all the inaccuracies.
However, like you said, the aim of the show is to entertain ( watching the IRA duke it out with the Taliban in a trailer park NEVER gets old).

I know that when they pitted Vlad Tepes vs Sun Tzu, they mostly focused on their weapons and not their tactics, which kinda pissed me off. Vlad Tepes's awesome pimp 'stache probably convinced them to let him win. Then again, both guys looked like they just got out of a Bollywood vid.

I mean, COME ON!

ahahhaha indeed they look ridiculous. I thought that match up was a tad bit strange since there are reports that Sun Tzu may not even have been a REAL person, just a name that constitutes many authors who wrote The Art of War.
