Welcome to the official action films thread of Alliance: The Silent War, where classic action films as well as any past action films that you have watched are discussed!
I know that there are alot of John Woo lovers on this board but lets try to spotlight some other ones which aren't as popular.

So here are the last few ones that I have seen which deserve a watch.

Double Impact

Big fan of Van Damme here so had to mention this movie. as opposed to his earlier films like Bloodsport, you see a fair amount of gunfights in this movie, probably because he made this one a short while after Hard Target (John Woo FTW). The story line in this one is absolutely cheesy which is why I love it (just watch the damn trailer!!). Basically two twin brothers (both played by Van Damme) go up against the Chinese Mob for murdering their parents when they where young. If anyone here likes movies involving crazy martial arts moves, then definitely check it out. It also stars Bolo Young as the villain who was 50 years old at the time and was in crazy fighting shape!

Leon: The Professional
Next to Hard Boiled, this is probably my favorite action movie. A few people probably already saw this one but I need to mention it because its a true classic. Starring Jean Reno as a hitman, the story is about a a young girl (played by Natalie Portman) whose family gets killed by corrupt cops and who is then picked up by Leon and trained to be a killer. This movie is just packed with action beginning to end. Nothing more to say really except for the fact that the acting is great, the story is great, and the action scenes are simply epic.

While this is more of a crime drama/thriller than an action film, the last 20 minutes of the movie are filled with one of the best gun fights that I've ever seen. Written and directed by Christopher Mcquarrie (who also wrote The Usual Suspects), the film is about two criminals who decide to kidnap a girl who belongs to this shady guy. The gun fights in the movie are actually coordinated by the director's brother who happens to be a navy SEAL so all the tactics look and feel real. The movie also features the epic Galil rifle which I think doesn't get seen often enough in movies.

Apart from these few, I'm also waiting to see Death Wish(can't believe I've never seen it!) and Navy Seals this weekend which have been recommended to me by some friends.

How about you guys? Any good action films that you've seen recently which you would like to share?

Commando is vintage Ahhhnold. Definitely.

Along those lines, you absolutely need to include Predator. Classic in every sense of the word.

Love Leon as well (way better than the edited down "The Professional").

No list of this nature is complete without Hard Boiled (John Woo's best), Band of Brothers, Generation Kill, and Battle Royale.
