What we have here is the first battle of the sexes in Deadliest Warrior. Joan of Arc, the French leader who defeated the English during the Hundred Years War vs. William the Conqueror, the Duke of Normandy who took over England.

Joan ended up winning with 2,587 kills vs. William's 2,413 kills.

Basically all I have to say is, it seems the only real reason Joan won was because she had superior technology. You're more likely to win if your tech is ahead of your opponents. The simulation reflected this as well, since William outclassed Joan in every single physical characteristic while Joan outclassed William in all technological.

What are your thoughts on this match up?

I think you have to concede to the lady. As a woman, think of just how badass you actually have to be in that day and age, so that a large army would actually follow your command.

Now, like their armies, say that Miss Ark had her trusty G36E and Sir William was carrying his lovely M1 Garand...

She has him outclassed technology wise, but can she stop a .30-06? Sure he flings 3 times the lead per pull, but can his superior numbers hold up to such an onslaught of burst fire?

I would probably still go with Joan of Ark. Up close the higher rate of fire would be extremely beneficial, and at longer ranges she still has her built-in optics.

I also gotta say that Joan has the better chance of winning. At the end of the day, the only thing which is being graded on the show is the quality of their weapons, not their skill. Joan's gunpowder age weaponry, more technologically advanced medieval era-armor and snarky french attitude will tip the odds heavily in her favor.

Now lets say we arm her with an MG-42 along with Red Army SN-42 armor and give Will a Bren gun. Now that is a battle I would like to see

I think they didn't give William enough credit and mainly played on the fact that Joan of Arc was a woman and conceded to her.

One thing I'd like to mention, though. The historian they had on William the Conqueror's team is a history professor at Wabash college - a school I was going to for a while. I've met him on multiple occasions, and he's a very amicable man - great sense of humour.
