I was fiddling with my Smith & Wesson (replica unfortunately, got it during my WWII re-enactment days) and it got me thinking about the pros and cons of single action firing.

What merit would their be in in having a key for cocking the hammer, this would server 2 purposes.

1. Provide a more accurate shot for double actioned pistols.
2. Make the single actioned pistols more accurate.

On another note players who are not used to single actioned guns will probably forget to cock, leading to misfires and death. But personally I would find that amusing :D

I find the fact that you HAVE to cock the pistol after every shot...simply amazing. I've only played 1 or 2 games or mods that you actually had to do it yourself (bolt action or single action revolver) I would love it. Single action should be a tad more accurate, but not by much.

Itd be cool to have double-action revolvers capable of shooting single action like in real life.

For controls I assume Left-mouseclick would be fire with Right-mouseclick cocking the hammer.
My idea to get around Right-mouseclick Also being aimdownsights like in all firstperson shooting games, some kind of double click feature as an alt function might work.

To get your double action revolver into single-action mode for a precise shot one could double click the Right-mouseclick button to cock it followed by a single click after to aim down the sights.

For regular shooting one would just go into iron sights mode and fire away.

Maybe going into single action could be similar to how Red Orchestra does bolt guns, at least for single action only revolvers. After firing you have to click fire again to cock the action and then you're ready to go again. Gotta have my Single Action Army! Actually, make that two so I can be Ocelot and meow at things!

On double action revolvers I do think it would be awesome to be able to cock the hammer, even if it made little to no difference. If only you could convey heavy/long trigger pulls through controls. This is why we need pressure sensitive mouse buttons. I would totally get all my in-game guns trigger jobs!
