I seem to recall a post that Sox made about how we acquire guns in Alliance. I can't find it after a quick search, and I have to be going soon, so I'll simply paraphrase what he said. It was something about how we need to buy the weapons in the War Studio after each mission. He said we would be able to buy about 6 per mission.

Then, we could also take two other guns (assuming we dropped our original primary). That means eight guns per mission. Since there are two hundred guns to get....that means we would need 25 missions. That seems like quite a lot of missions.

Thoughts?

25 missions is ok. How about 30 missions. Hopefully there will be secret hideouts, there some good arse kicking weapons is placed. So, you have to find this places. It maybe getting more fun, to find a really good weapon in a secret place. Then tell this secret place to other Alliance players on multiplay, E-mail, MSN, ICQ or this community.

You have the option to purchase weapons in the WarStudio before each level and rarely within a level itself.

As far as the rate of acquisition is concerned, you're generally going to have to play through the game more than once to collect/purchase every single weapon (some will be hidden). At the end of one playthrough you'll probably have every single weapon that you like a lot though.

I hope you guys'll publish a guide of when and where to obtain specific weapons. Release it only to people on the forums, so we can feel special :D

Knowing all the amature detectives we have here, I'm certain that the locations of all of them will be found out in short order once the game is released.

So the guns you get carry over, then? I mean, if I were to buy every rifle in WW1 one game, does that mean I'd start out with all of them next game at the beginning?

Yeah. So let's say that you use a Gewehr 98 in WWI, and you complete WWI with it. Now say you picked up a Lewis gun or an MP18 (yea, right ;) ), then you could go back and play the WWI part with the MP18 or Lewis gun.

That's something entirely different. The singleplayer WarStudio has a time lock on it, such that you only have access to weapons that exist at that point in time.

Further elaboration on the time lock mechanism requires a firm "no comment". ;)

Cool a time lock 8-)
Can this be used serverside in MP? and in specific maps?
Hope its not in the "No comment" section question..hehehe

There had best be a way to unlock that. I want to hit the trenches of WWI with a SAW.

MP functionality on the server will actually be greater, so a timelock isn't necessary. The server can define whatever type of WarStudio query it wants to allow or deny any subset of weapons from the WarStudio. For example: "only pistols from the 1950's", or "only semi auto rifles that fire a round smaller than .30-06".

Anything else (such as Feanaro's question) gets a firm no comment.

I've just realized (again) how much I'm going to love this game.

I think I am going to take off a year after High School and just work and play this game. I'll definately be ready for College by then :D

Late 2007 on PC. Probably later for the consoles.

damn, i was hoping it would be out within a few months. =/ I wonder if the devs thought about releasing the SP and MP at different times? My guess would be that MP would be ready sooner because not as much content or programming would be necessary for it.

I don't mind paying twice. =D
