Most Games have some gun emplacements just for like a multiplayer mode so you could defend a little positon for some time until you get sniped. Will you guys have any gun emplacements on the map or will it be just you and your guns? Not to change the subject but will there be a chance of an RPG? Just because a lot of the rebel forces carry it and I think it's an awesome weapon in a game. And a fun one. :) Take the poll for the gun emplaecements and put comments on it.

Rocket/grenade launchers will be included among the 200+ weapons in Alliance.

There will be entrenched weapons in the singleplayer campaign.

As for multiplayer, there's no technical reason why there couldn't be. However, it will depend solely on how we think they affect the map balancing.

Yes it's the balance. I make some customs to JO-TR... And those emblaced weapons are really hard to get any balance on... But the one thing i hate with JO-TR, is that there is no limits on ammo for those emblaced weapons... Hope you will set a ammo limit and reloading on those emblaced weapons...

Although things are never this easy one could just have a server choice of mounted weapons on or off. If it is on then the mounted weapons would be in "key locations" but if it is off then there would be none. Or maybe the admin can set up where the mounted weapons will be placed, or better yet each team can have up to three mounted guns, and they before the start of the round they can place them anywhere “within reason of their spawn point for defense.

I would much rather prefer player deployed LMG's or MMG's. HMG's kind of ruin game play, they either get spammed or left out. Usually no in between.

Player deployed MG's allow for dynamic usage of the MG, not a static usage. My favorite example is DOD:S. While it has its downfalls, DoD:S does have a great MG placement system. If Alliance could achieve something of the sort, I would be really happy with the game.

Also, "ramboing" should be attainable, but only for short burts and limited accuracy.

In most cases, yeah. But a 15+ pound 5.56mm SAW that spits out about 700 bullets per minute seems a better platform for belting out a little full auto goodness than a 7~ pound carbine with a similar ROF.

It would be a shame to leave out HMGs on WW1 maps. What happens when a SWAT team storms a WW1 trooper trench? Who will win?

Well one could still have LMG's and MMG's, but I really think that most of the time they'll be left out in the cold. WWI is pretty much the only possibility for HMG's, due to the tactics of the time.

I believe that Alliance shoud have player deployed MG's not static mounts, for being static in warfare is bad.

agreed, but then for somthing like a mark19 or an m2 50 cal. in a modern conflict would be very unweilding being a mark 19 with tripod is over 100 pounds. So it would have to be something smaller like an m240b

I really was talking only about LMG's and MMG's. I mean how often do you find an M2 just stationed somewhere? Chances are it's an M1919 stationed there by a member of your platoon who put it there for tactical reasons.

Even in WWI, the Vickers MG was considered an MMG, and most of the Maxims were fitted on wheels to allow for movement.

I mean, how are M2's mounted to a bunch of sand bags, or a window?

Good point Der. I think that machiengun emplacements can be a good things, and would make for some hectic battles. Restrictions would of course have to be placed on the nest, like limited ammo for the gun, or overheating from sustained fire.

Or, there could just be strategically placed, fixed nests or bunkers around the map, that are empty, but allow for a strong defensive position, and would allow the player to lug a machinegun over to it and deploy it. Or to just take cover in it.

As for heavy machine guns, I cant really see them being in anysort of bunker, unless its mounted on a wall of a fortification or something.

The ideas Miroku brought up are excellent imo, and would make for some interesting stratigies.
