Questions regarding ammo & health packs.

Will they appear on every Alliance level? If not, how do we reload our empty firearms or heal ourselves?

personally i would hope they go about this realistically, or atleast allow for a realism setting that removes them.

it would really hurt realism to have ammo and health packs laying around.

for ammo i would think you'd take plenty with you, and should you run out probably grab one off some dead guy.rather then pick up some ammo that happens to be randomly laying around and also happens to be your exact caliber.

from what ive read though, there will be varying realism levels, and so hopefully it will be adjustible to everyone's prefference.

What happens with regards to your health will vary with the difficulty and/or realism settings. I can't get into specifics until we are past fine tuning and playtesting.

You will be able to carry a realistic amount of ammo, so it'll be less of an issue than other games (unless you're a real Rambo type shooter). Still, there will be plenty of people to get clips from, but possibly not for your weapon, in which case you should pick up theirs.

How much ammo the player is able to take with? 4-6 magazines and 4-5 handgrenades?

Hasn't been finalized, though the max will be at least 6 of each.

would depend on the type of ammo/feeding device i would hope.

for example with a mauser rifle you could easily carry 3 or 4 bandoliers of ammo standard, more if you dont mind the weight.

a bandolier can carry 70 rounds, thats 14 5 round clips.

so a max of 6 clips for a mauser would be a rather small "max", 20-30 clips is a much better max for that kind of weapon.

magazine fed rifles would obviously have a much smaller magazine count, but probably have a higher actual round count, atleast for modern small arms with smaller cartridges.

Right, a bandolier of 8mm Mauser (on stripper clips of 5, and the bandolier is made of cloth) that contains 70 rounds weighs about five pounds. Also, one doesn't exactly "waste" ammo on a bolt action, it's kind of hard....

Are you guys going to do the magazine system (where one has to change an entire magazine) or an ammo "resivour", if you will, where you just fill up your magazine and have basically loose bullets lying around.

Lets see if i can answer this right. If you have 2 20 round clips use half of then reload then you'll have 1 10 round sleep and 1 full 20. wish i could find the quote

I'll try and use examples...

Will it be like Call of Duty, or Battlefield 2?

I like the way RO uses ammunition. BF2's system is kaputz. If you could go further and pick up common ammunition (9mm and 7.62x39mm is pretty common, as is 5.56 NATO and 7.62 NATO) it's just a matter of getting it into the magazines. Perhaps you can pick up common ammo and then load you spent magazines in between fire fights?

The now defunct total conversion modification for the origional half-life, in its later stages, utilized an additional function to merge half spent magazines after being cycled through the player's inventory. Furthermore: What is all this talk about clips? Unless we are fast loading post World War II era weaponry, it is a misnomer.

As R. Lee once said, "You can put clips into magazines, but you can't put magazines into clips" He then prcoeeded to put a paper clip into a magazine.
