Yeah, recoil is actually the force that pushes both the bullet forward and the gun backwards at the same time (that darn Newton). I'm talking about just the force pushing the barrel back right now, not perceived kick and muzzle climb. The net effect is that it got a bullet of X mass to Y velocity while in the barrel in WAY, WAY less than a gameplay tick, so calculating the varying acceleration isn't necessary at all. Just using the end result gives you the average measurable amount of force. The equations to measure it accurately (we've checked that they match real life), are also more complicated than the variables I mentioned imply. I can't really go to go into more specific implementation details (especially not pre-release). :)

Agreed. Just remembering from the little bit of dynamics I did take in school the ol' F=ma equation and basically everything else being derived/based on that. :) And yes that Newton guy was on to something. ;)
