Why do I get a feeling there won't be any post by Sox/ZainAnak until Alliance magically starts again?

You know, I'm curious what were the last things done to Alliance before the whole Second Life thing started

It's pretty obvious that if WMI was a much larger company with more resources that the path they have chosen now wouldn't be necessary.

That's the problem with games today; it has boomed significantly since it's inception and because of that the smaller companies with great ideas never really get out there or are what you'd consider a financial success. All the while the bigger briefcase-wielding corporate companies want to stay it safe and keep pushing out their retired whore, who they've aptly nammed "innovation", with nothing but a short red dress and too much makeup.

Sorry, got a bit off topic there, but you get the idea of how it works. If WMI just had the resources available to them they could continue working on the project, have it hyped through the roof, and maybe out sometime in early '08.

Yeah.

At the end of the day, this is a business and any dev team is at the mercy of what their money tells them to do.

If you guys are really lucky at the end of the current dev cycle with Second Life (lets call it 18 months - 2 years) WMI will be able to retask to producing Alliance at which point they're going to realise that their engine is eye-bleedingly ugly compared to the competition at which point they get to produce a new engine so... call it 2011.

LMAO. That's just it. Alliance team should been paying a web-team instead. And set the engine to be a download for a little bit of money and set it key-coded to be registred. Then set payments on every weapon that people was to get to thier engine and only going for a multiplay game of Alliance Online. Then maybe for the money of Alliance Online setup a work on Alliance 2, to be a market based game. Just a thought. There is always things to do, if you really burn for a great amazing idea. Just think what you could do to improve the sounds, game feeling, grafics, AI of Alliance 2. While Alliance Online was going on in the background, while Alliance 2 was in progress for the money of selling Alliance Online to us.

Thats a silly idea Ice. Have you not been paying attention to the situation?

Theyre busy working with Linden to improve Second Life. Why would they waste time doing a job that they are getting paid for to make unnecessary sequels? Your idea sounds like something EA would do.

Well EA have some credits in their pockets, do they ? I don't say EA is the greatest game company. But they sure have made some money. Why should't not Alliance be a online game like Valve has it like. But with their own domain and shit. Make all of the game engine to be open for updates aslike the servers for new weapons, nation/unit uniforms, sounds, grafics, maps, squadpages, stats and etc, etc. This could be a hit. Who says that Alliance can't be better, then it is already. Think to get a new nation uniform updated to Alliance every week or a new tested stat map every mounth. This could really improve the size of Alliance and it's easyness to get with your internet connection. Then make it all free from Valve, so the Alliance team can pick all the credits from it.

And when this is going on, why not build on new game engine like Alliance 2, type of crysis style. That's what iam talking about.
