If I remember correctly they are shooting for Q4 2007, but as we all know most things in life take longer than orginally planned for. So my guess would be Q1 2008. I'm not knocking the devs by any means but most games are released later than the original plan. Of course they could have just thrown out Q4 '07 when they really meant 3Q '07 :). Anywho, as long as it doesn't follow Duke Nukem's release schedule I am fine.

Maybe progs like Nimble take also much of their time.

We need multiple videos IMO. ne to demonstrate each aspect of gameplay and graphics.

50, go look at your posts in the graphics forum based on some rushed E3 footage then come back and tell us why they need to not release any media until it's more representative of the finished product.

I believe the part of the reason it has taken so long is because they keep updating/changing the engine. Basically they keep starting over. Don't really care though as that type of game really isn't my cup of tea so to speak.

How representative should it be? Should the only videos be released a couple weeks before it goes gold?

I wasn't complaining that, this early, it wasn't as good, I was only stating my expectations. That, by the end, it should be as good as Halo 3 or close.

I realize that each batch of videos represents any another incremental progression, but I'm anxious to see how much the graphics have improved.

I was reading something about DNF in The Escapist (the article was about Prey) and they were saying Prey took so long because it was ambitious and they needed an engine of the current gen to make it work AND that DNF was subject to something similar so... whether they can now make it using Unreal 3 or whatever remains to be seen.

Considering that in '01 we were still 2 years away from graduation (let alone starting development), that's not quite right. Alliance has been in development in some capacity or other for 2 - 2.5 years, with the large chunk having been spent on base engine functionality and bootstrapping the entire process.

I think Sox defines development as coding, modeling, play testing, etc.

They merely conceived the basic idea in 2001.

You're both right. I had been defining development as actual work in terms of coding, design, etc. We had definitely already been thinking about Alliance and other titles since around that time, so brainstorming started much earlier.
