well i think hes saying some people like cars some people like infantry. i think there should be a time to get a in one like how long it takes you to get in a vehicle. kinda like mecinarys for ps2. but i do understand that mortors can mess up a gameplay thats why when you do something like that or in a vehicle friendly fire should always be on even if the person choses to have ff off in the game. that is so that people in infantry would have a chance. i just hope there is a way to fix spawn camping. something like making people invincible. for 3 seconds to be able to get away but now letting them shoot there guns for a bit to make it so they cant just pop and drop someone fast

I had figured with all the firearms being implemented into Alliance, that vehicles would be unnecessary. Reason being, I had assumed they were just going to focus on infantry fighting rather then a full scale war.

That's pretty much what they said they were doing.

Well, I don't want to see claustruphobic levels like in CSS.

3 km * 3 km is good enough.

gee good infy maps are ususaly 500 - 700 meters x 500 - 700 meters. 3km would be a good single player map, but honestly unless your going to fit 256 people in online play, whats the point of 3km square with 64 people?

The point is to not have everyone crammed up like sardines in can. :) give peopel a little room to move around, explore..etc.

Also, think about this. Oneof ALliance's biggest goals is to authentically recreate battlfields. Some of WW2s (in addition to more recent conflicts) took place on quite large battlefields. Providing combat on an epic scale wil really set Alliance apart from the "me-too" crowd.

Also, think about the realistic ballistic simualtion. What point will bullet posibly serve with levels that are too small? You won't ever need to check your distance, which wil detract from the immersion.

All maps should be at least 7kmx7km as like minimum, with some (PSP) progressive spawn points. Then all this maps should have combined enverioments in them. Like streets but even lay there a big square for sniping and King Of The Hill positions for snipers around it. But maps should not be smaller then 7kmx7km. No veichles should be in Alliance, becurse this will automaticly set a limit on gunners and RPG-noobs. Veichles and small maps makes even teams to split, so they lost their teamworking in this way and the positional advancing on maps will be lost. So this will make. That all guns will be always good to have and all choose the gun that they are good on in teamplaying. Hope everybody is here to see a tactical shooter and no noob spread out driving maps and any spray-and-prey on 500x500 meters.

The maps should not be to big, because that will make them boring, but they should be large enough to give you a chance to spawn in peace()in stead of being shot down at the moment like in CS) and to allow you to make good use of the weapons.

To get a good idea of a good sized map, play the map Strike ar Karkand on BF2 set to 32 players. Thats a good size.

Its big enough that theres room to manuver and use tactics, but small enough so that you dont have to walk 20 minutes to see a single person.

To all who day big maps will be boring or suck......I play BF2 all the time (all mods though) and I have to say even with large maps you will still get raped if someone chooses to do it. A medium size map is what I would say COD2 had and that game just plain sucked dirty balls; run and gun, then run and gun some more. There was NO skill involved with that game even on just sniper only maps. One game I can say had a very coolness factor to it for a whole 30 seconds was Vegas. Smallish to medium size maps but man does it get boring quick. You also get stuck and cannot move at buttloads of diffrent areas on the map. I can say 1 thing though, I hope when this game is ready to release there is not a patch released the day of or the day after. EA is famous for that and is the reason why BF2142 lost so many players.....and cause of in game advertising. I like the way the Alliance team is taking their time with this game and doing their homework and then some.

Well you see, BF2 could use large maps because of vehicles. However, Alliance will for sure not be including vehicles, it has been clearly stated before, this is an infantry simulation. Big maps are worthless if you have to walk the entire distance. It could easily take a solid minute to go across a map as big as the 64 player versions of the BF2 maps.

The only way big maps could work in Alliance is if progressive spawning was implemented.

Strike at Karkand was maily an infantry map. For 32 players, it was just right.

As for most of BF2's other maps, yes, they are huge to accomodate vehicles. But Karkand wasnt :D

See for yourself, go join a Karkand map with 32 ppl in it ;)

Big urban maps are awsome with infantry only. You never know what's waiting for you around the next corner...

Exaclty. It also allows for tactics. And with Alliance's focus on reaism, tactics will only be made more important and pertinet.

*cant wait to shut down a street with an M240 machine gun* :D

anyone ever play Enemy Territory? The maps on there are great for playing. Not small like CS or huge like BF2.

Exactly. if the maps are so small, bullet drop will never come into effect and thus be useless.

At this point, it's pretty clear that WMI want to make the game feel epic. One of the best ways to go about doing this is to provide huge battlefields.

Some of the most famous wars were fought on battlefkields latrger than DE_dust BTW.

Here are some ideas :
1) Large urban map

2) Combo of Urabn and outdoors (jungles, tundra, etc.)

3) Mountanous levels.
