the aa system was nice, but the style of armament in aa, namely giving each person on a team a weapon based on position with little choice of alternatives, goes against alliance's "u can use anything" style. also, when i was an aa player, i never really saw that much teamwork. there was no in-game voip, and while there was a pretty simple and effective macro system, it was hardly ever used
for my squad setup, i would like the communication of bf2 (especially the commo rose, that thing is brilliant), but i like the more realistic squad setup of america's army, with ranks and the feeling of a real squad. couple things that would have to be improved upon in aa's method. first would be non-limiting weapon selection. maybe it could be a server option, but it cannot be default. second would be squad positioning. in aa, it got hard to coordinate because i couldn't keep track of my teammates, and would usually just follow a random guy or go on my own.
i also just came up with a cool idea: in game draw-on map. back when i played planetside, players with certain command ranks would be able to draw on the map and their whole squad would be able to see. something like this would be really cool in multiplayer and even single player, like the old ghost recon and rainbow six. it would be cool to also be able to mark the map with symbols, like machine gunner, sniper, mines, etc etc
Well I mean something like it that might change depending on server information. Red Orchestras system is good too.
