Exactly right. Though it would only be the next-gen consoles.

Ok thanks, if it's on console on the next generations I'll never play it, it's ridiculous that the PS3 will cost almost $600. Not every collge kid has that laying around.

My PC cost me around $1800 and that doesn't include the $70 for mouse, $300 for monitor and $150 for my headset. Considering what kind of hardware you are getting with a PS3 or XBOX360, $600 is a bargain. Look at this way, no upgrades for another 5 years. Owning a gaming PC is a perpetual work in progress. There is always something better to put in it.

Yeah you also have to factor in that I'll have to buy something to put in my computer so this game will run on it. I know right now that it will jam it up quickly. I need to go on ahead and look into that because I've been wanting to buy Age of Empires 3 for a while but my system doesn't meat the requirements. Does anyone know what the requirements will be for this PC game?

Great Zeus's beard! What're your specs? I spent $927 for my computer (excluding monitor) and I feel that it's pretty high up there.

Depends on what he bought, when he bought it also.

Another thing that people don't consider when comparing pc gaming vs next gen consoles are the monitors / TV's

What alot people fail to realize is that you pretty much NEED a HDTV in order to play the next get consoles. A perfect example is Dead Rising for the xbox 360. During game play small text rolls arcross the screen giving you important info. Guess what... it's too small to read on a regular tv (4:3 non HD) I imagine this would also be the case for Alliance's small text, like that on the weapon info in the weapon studio...

Figure the smallest / cheapest HD monitor will probably run you about 500, and likely higher for a liviing room situation (probably 1000~3000) depending on the size and type and all of a sudden the price argument becomes null and void. In the long run though i think the console wins out unfortunatly though... the PS3/Xbox/Wii doesn't need costly upgrades to keep up with the current games, and it's able to facilitate group activities as an entertainment center, where as pc gaming is more of a solitary activity (though you could argue multiplayer is a social activity - but the next gen consoles have that angle covered as well)

I guess the best way to look at PC's are that they are multipurpose. If your only using one for gaming then your not getting your money's worth out of it. Hopefully your also waisting hours on msg boards, and buying gagets from new-egg, and of course there's the endless waves of porn, oh oh, and work don't forget work.

Bought it about a year ago @ cyberpowerpc.com. The prices was MSRP but after discounts, rebates, etc. It came to about $1300. But their online ordering system was messed up and there was a glitch somewhere because it should have been around $1600.

Intel P4 3.4 650
2GB PC5300 RAM
eVGA 7800GT 256MB PCI-E
200GB HD
600W PS
SB Audigy 2 ZS soundcard

My headset is a AX360 5.1 http://www.trittontechnologies.com/

Probably gonna upgrade when DX10 is out with Core 2 Duo processor (gonna need another mobo for that) and DX10 video card. Of course that could get vetoed by my wife.

My next upgrade is probably a better cpu and a DX10 video card. Video of Alan Wake. I think they ran it on a quad core cpu. Some games that will be DX10. This is rather interesting though.

The last link is wrong. Microsoft has already stated that Directx 9.0L is only on Vista along with DX10. It is putting DX9.0L on Vista so people can play DX9 games on Vista. It will not be on XP. And no you do not have a DX10 card to play games on Vista, as long as those games are DX9. If you wanna play DX10 games then yes you need a DX10 card on Vista. This is why some games are initially releasing as DX9 and then later being patched to DX10 when it becomes more common. Flight Simulator X and UT2007 are the two biggest ones doing this.

Let me rephrase my first sentence. DX9.0L is actaully part of DX10, not a seperate version. So there is no way to put it on XP.

Ah the person I got the link from told me it was to play dx10 games on vista so I didn't actually read it.
