Seach pulled up nothing on beta mags.

So. Will beta mags have a presence? They are used in combat quite frequently and are available for many different guns. The same with varying capacity mags for other firearms. Standard AR mags run the range from 3 to 40. FALs have 20 and 30 round mags, the same with M14s.

The same with handguns. I don't know of any current handgun that you cant get extended capacity bases for the magazines. Most of them also have either factory high realy high cap (G18) or aftermarket versions of those (CZ-75, M9, 226/8/9 all have 25+ mags). Even the 1911 has the oldschool drum magazine (25 rounds) and the newer 50rd drum mag. As well as 15rd extended rd mag or faily stockish 9-10 rd mags.

If anything please include the various incarnations (AR, M246, G36, HK33, mini-14, Styer AUG, G36, SiG 550, MP-5, and the FAL is getting one too)of the beta C-mag, as it's out there being used in the sand pit right now.

Seek and thou shall findest thy ridiculously large capacity magazines.

I'm not even going to bring up how horribly unreliable most drum magazines are.

I haven't had a problem with my Beta Cs, yet. I have never had any issue with any of my AK drums, chicom or romanian. I haven't heard of anyone having issues with the AK drums either. Same with the factory Glock high caps.

The search must be broken, I tried three variants on betas and nothing popped up. Damn I hate reposting. Oh well...

The C-Mag is arguably unreliable in combat conditions, with frequent failures to feed. Problems are exacerbated in dusty and sandy environments. The C-Mag also stresses the magazine release, since a fully-loaded C-Mag weighs more than three fully-loaded 30-round magazines. U.S. Army TACOM has issued a Ground Precautionary message, GPM-02-0217, warning about its use in operations, since several deaths in the Global War On Terror have been blamed on faulty C-Mags. The GPM predates the initiation of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Beta C Mag is not in wide-spread use by US military forces, and has not been type-classified.

Of course you don't have any problems with them, for you don't spend 24 hours a day in a giant sand storm, and are able to keep the Beta C Magazines well lubed and clean.

Actually, I think the Russians perfected the drum magazine. I don't know if it's true or not, but they sure as hell used them a lot with the PPSH 41's and what not.

The last time I was deployed in the middle east I didn't have an issue keeping my equipment cleaned. So yes, I was in a "24 hour a day dust storm," without issue. Did I have a C-mag over there? No. Do I know the conditions they work in (owning one civi side), and what it's like over there? Yes. Would I personaly have issues using one there? No.

FYI there are GPMs for everything. That's not exactly telling.

Even AKs can jam from neglect, it's not some magical gun. Nothing is immune from errors. But I do think that some issues are overstated from people that can't be bothered to clean their weapons in the first place.

I've really got to stop assuming that everyone who posts is a 13 year old who's never fired a weapon in his life. You have my deepest, most sincere appologies.

I'm just speaking from what I've heard as far as the Beta C.

Nah, go ahead and keep assuming. I realy think most here are. So if you're off once or twice it doesnt matter because the other 20 times you weren't. :)

Are Beta-Cs as reliable as AK drums? Not even F-in close. Are they reliable enough to be used in combat? Yes. Kinda like Ford vs Toyota. Sure you can drive a Ford, the biggest POS on the road, even though a toyota is available. But they both still work.

Well it usually works on other forums, but I've noticed many posters have actually served in the military, or own lots and lots of guns.
