Grenades launched from launchers tend to have smaller damage radius, theyre more of a shaped explosion in a way. Kinda. Im pretty sure.

if your talking about a rocket propelled grenade, thats actually a shaped explosive meant for anti tank use. though they are meant against tanks, they are still for some odd reason called grenades.

There are anti personal RPGs for RPG launchers too. It's more of a rocket then a grenade.

This what a soldier fires with a 40mm grenade launcher attached to their Assault rifles.

This is one of the many models of hand grenades that soldiers throw to the enemy with their hands.

See the difference?

By "grenade launcher" I meant what the Teminator uses in Terminator 2.

I suppose under barrel grenade launchers are just sized down version.

That's a M79 I believe. It's 40mm and the M203 is 40mm.

Actually it's the same 40 x 46 mm grenade that the M203 uses.

Besides delivery and range there really is not a difference between launched grenades and hand thrown. Basicly every type of grenade you can throw is found in a launcher. Except maybe thermite grenades. 40mm Flares? They have those too... chemical and mechanical. You light them and throw them. HE? Yes... they have concussion for both Hand and 40mm, and they have Fragmentaion. The thing with a 40mm you can use it in a similar fashion to a beanbag gun. And you can use stun grenades which incappacitate to. So really it just depends if you want easier control ala Hand Grenades or the distance. Launched.

Im pretty shure the hand thrown ones are more powerfull. Atleast the High Explosive ones.

And handthrown comes in more varieties.

The launched grenades are in my opinion most effektive for MGnest clearing where you cant get close enough to throw a grenade.

Hand grenades are more for close combat... while...
Launched grenades are more for support fire...

Yes it's true there is more types of launched grenades, then hand grenades... Becurse you have no limits, of how much you can blow up from a position that is laying 20 km away... While a hand grenade have their limits, becurse you like grenade thrower is standing much closer to the explosion... Ofcurse you still have some different sort of hand grenades, like.

Flashbang, teargas grenade A-C class, smoke grenade 1-10min and different colors of smoke, hand grenades of different weight 1-3 kg and of different cluster types...

What you wrote about Launched 40mm underbarrel grenades beeing more powerfull is not true.
If you look at a 40mm grenade for the m203 youl see that its actually smaller than a handheld grenade.. and the 40mm launched grenade spends like 50% off its chassis with proppeling explosives. The actual grenade itself is rather small. Anyways the point is that its about the same effektiveness.

Handheld grenades are today restricted to around 5-10metres in diameter in the (What do you call it... Explosive effektiveness)
Meaning people standing 30metres out of a grenade should have a good chance of not getting hit with any shrapnell.
However. Single pieces of shrapnell may occur within 50m.
