M1 garand.

I don't think a lot of the real WW2 was uhttp://www.armedassault.com/weapons.html close and personal.

The only way to fight, as far aas I know, was to put a little distance and cover between you an dou're enemy.

How do you figure most of WW2 was only at long ranges? The Germans were the ones who realized the need for close quarter weapons for use in the extremely fast attacks, and its part of the reason they were so succesful early in the war.

I suck at WW2, but wasn't the whole blitzkrieg thing about tanks?

The whole Blitzkrieg thing was made up by Time magazine. Seriously, the German High Command never referred to it as "Blitzkrieg."

Basically the planes, Ju 87 dive bombers, would pound the hell out of the enemy, then the tanks would race in raping anything that survived the Stukas, then the infantry and artillery would follow to mop up.

the smle and the no4 mk1 .. best battle rifles of ww2 ,capable of bringin down a man at 1000 meters.

EDIT:
oh sorry to burst the bubble, but the fedorova is NOT an assault rifle. its a battle rifle, it used the 6.5x50mm ammo that was liberated from the japanese, which happened to be their standard rifle calliber ammunition. if anaything this weapon belongs in the class of an automatic rifle along with the B.A.R or browning automatic rifle. now why did i mention the calliber? well an assualt rifle uses shortened ammunition for less recoil so that full automatic fire can be attained, the stg 44 fired the 7.92X33mm kurz ammunition which was a much shorter version of the 7.92x57mm used in the Mauser Kar 98 battle rifle.

Don't worry about it, I should be sorry.

It's just so fun to do that to people, I really couldn't resist.

The list would be too long. There were so many classic designs.

I've always liked the lee enfield line, just about any of them. bren is pretty good, and i like almost all of germany's guns. kinda sucks that most video games either don't prominently show them or show them correctly
